Foods That Can Help In Boosting

brain power

Behavioral problems, irritability, nervousness, anxiety, anger, lability, depression, fatigue, slow reaction, poor short-term memory are the first signs of a lack of vitamins and minerals. Improving their level in the blood through foods improves brain functions and cognitive power.

Tea

Tea contains anti-oxidants (catechins and polyphenols) that help keep blood vessels healthy and counteract the oxidation of fats by free radicals. Black tea contains more antioxidants in total, but green tea contains more of one particular anti-oxidant, epigallcatechinalate. The longer the tea is allowed to brew, the more anti-oxidants will end up in the water. Herbal tea does not contain anti-oxidants!

Chocolate

Chocolate rich in anti-oxidants: the polypheneols and catechins, which are also found in wine, tea, fruit and vegetables. Dark chocolate contains most of the anti-oxidants. Chocolate also contains other substances that can influence the functioning of our brains. Phenylethylamine is a type of amphetamine that gives our brains a boost. Chocolate also contains a substance that attaches itself to the same receptor as the active substance in marijuana and can thus give a feeling of light euphoria. Sugar increases the serotonin level *, which improves the mood and finally the fat stimulates the production of endorphins, a substance that gives a feeling of well-being.

Alcohol

Drinking alcohol in moderation can help blood vessels to stay healthy. Red wine in particular has a beneficial effect on the brain because it also contains anti-oxidants (polyphenols and anthocyanins). Incidentally, tea and grape juice, for example, contain the same anti-oxidants.

Caffeine

Caffeine from coffee, tea and cola affects how our brains work, but why is that? Caffeine blocks the action of the neurotransmitter adenosine *, which normally tells the brain to calm down and go to sleep. Adenosine * cannot control boosting neurotransmitters like dopamine *. In short, vigilance and concentration can be increased. Caffeine also provides the adrenaline shot * that clears the brain.

Adrenaline also raises glucose levels, making more of the memory neurotransmitter acetylcholine. In short, caffeine can increase alertness and concentration and compensate for slowing down of the brain. Caffeine works very quickly - within 10 minutes - and already works at a very low dose: with one cup of coffee, Caffeine is slightly addictive, but the consumption does not have to be continuously increased to maintain the same effect.

When you stop drinking caffeine, withdrawal symptoms can develop: depression, lethargy, irritability, muscle tension and headaches. Some people are extra sensitive to caffeine, they can experience anxiety, nervousness, heart rhythm disturbances, insomnia, restlessness and so on.
